SPRING 2020 LETTER TO MEMBERSHIP

5/17/2020 2:00 pm

To Our Burns Park Players Family,

We hope this message finds your family healthy and safe in these unprecedented times.

We are so grateful our community had the chance to come together this year and share our production of Mary Poppins.  Thank you to everyone who was a part of the show. We wanted to share that thanks to your hard work Burns Park Players was able to raise over $20,000 to support the arts in our community at a time when so many creative organizations will need the extra help.

Annual Meeting

Our Annual Spring meeting this year has been postponed due to the State of Michigan’s current Stay-at-home orders.  We will hold our annual meeting at some time in the future when we can comply with safety law and practices.

Board Members Needed

The Burns Park Board is committed to continuing the mission of the Burns Park Players.   To do that we need your help.  We have three board members Mary Roderique, Jay Winegarden, and Brad Whitridge who have completed their terms and are not returning to the board.  We are looking for members to fill their seats and especially encourage involvement by parents who currently have children attending Burns Park Elementary to continue our strong connection to the school.

Board terms are three years, and meetings are held about eight times a year (generally monthly outside of the show production), for approximately two hours.  Responsibilities include show selection, creative team hiring, and the organization’s stewardship. If you are interested in learning more about being on the board or nominating yourself to be a board member, please email bpp@burnsparkplayers.org

Burns Park Players Show in 2021

A strong board is critical to our ability to continue to plan for the future of Burns Park Players.  As we look forward to 2021, we will continue to monitor the impact of Covid-19, but if schools are not open, or large gatherings are not feasible, it will most likely not be possible to put on a production at the usual time.  The Board will continue to discuss how to share the spirit of BPP with the community while we are off the stage and will actively work on improving our show production process so that we are better than ever when the show is able to go on.   As always, we welcome all input from our amazing community by participating in the board or in any other way.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions, concerns, or musical performances,
